A post about an event (will show up on Events page)

A Whole New Year of Community !

A big thank you to Rachel Green (KVH bookings manager) bookings@kabervh.com for pulling together a list of events for the coming year of events planned in the Hall.

This year we have tried to focus on events that have been well supported in the past – please come along and support the community and enjoy some good chat (and often edible treats!)

Please click this link to view the event list. Then print it out and pin to your fridge, so you never miss a thing 🙂

Remember if you have ideas for an event you would like to book the hall for, or run, then please just contact Rachel – and we have special discounted rates for local folk and regular events.

Kaber Show – a note from your Treasurer

Kaber Village Hall Show – a result to be proud of.

After the final counting and calculations I’m delighted to announce that the total profit (to help run the hall) from yesterday’s show, including a very generous donation of £100 from Appleby Castle Estates is £301.38 an excellent result.

While the income for the hall is most welcome, I think that the community spirit shared is probably the most valuable result of the day.

Huge thanks must of course go to the organisers, amazing judges and steward, Stuart Hird and his band of men for transporting and erecting the gazebo and barbecue.

The greatest thanks though go to all the bakers, crafters, gardeners, photographers and multi-talented children who took the time to be creative and to enter.

Thanks also to those who attended on the day, enjoyed coffee and company and the results of Colin and Wendy Belsey’s hard work on the BBQ.

Kaber Show – thank you all

What a fine day !

A few pictures from Kaber Show 2026, and a short notes to say some thank-yous…

  1. Thank you to Sarah for masterminding the event, and her team for making it happen – (from cleaning the hall and masking it ready – to work on the day).
  2. Thank you to everyone for their entries (what a skilled set of folk you are); crafters, bakers, artists, photagraphers, and makers – without you there would be no show.
  3. Thank you to the Belseys for “chefing” the barbecue
  4. To Stuart for providing transport for gazebo and barbecue
  5. To the ground crew for erecting and dismantling the “Heggerscale Community Gazebo”.

Congratulations to the winners – we will publish lists on the noticeboards in the coming days. But Val Walton deserves a mention now for being overall class points winner and Kyle for being overall junior winner – Well DONE!

Community is SO important in making the world a better place – so events like this are really important, thank you all for helping.

Below are a few pictures of the event, if you have more please share them on the Kaber Village Whatsapp group or send them to webmaster@kabervh.com  and we will put them up here for everyone to see.

Thank you (and it even stayed dry).

Events, Spuds & Puddings

Quiz Night Food

Just a quick reminder that the next “do” at the hall is a Spuds & Puds Lunch on the 29th November (from Noon to 1:30pm) – it’s just £7:50 a head including coffee or tea, or you can bring your own drinks (I think Chardonnay is good with Baked potatoes!!!).

Assorted fillings for the baked spuds of course and a variety of puddings too – what’s not to like!

Come and enjoy some good winter food and company.

Check the Website for other upcoming events

We circulated a list of planned events a month or so back, but if you have lost that poster, then just check the website to see all the currently planned events from now to September 2026!!!!

Kaber Show 2025 Pics & Results

Well that went well!

Huge Thanks to all the Community who contributes entries, attended or helped with the event.  Well Done! We were even blessed with sunshine.

Sarah L deserves a special vote of thanks as the person who masterminded all the organisation and did most of the pre-event work and organised food and everything. …and a thank-you to the Heggerscale crew from “up the hill” for lending their tent and barbecue that they had clubbed together to make/buy,…

Congratulations to the winners – a great selection, demonstrating the skills in the community…. and especially to Val Walton for being overall winner and continuing a long tradition of the Waltons competing and winning!

Here are the results for each class (<<<click to view)

Here are all the pictures we took –

Kaber Show: Have your say

This year’s Kaber Show will be on the 6th September (barring complications) building on the success of last year’s event. and the great support of the community with many entries in almost 30 classes.

But, it’s always possible to make it even better, so next Monday (9th June at 7:30pm) we are holding a meeting to start the planning process for this year.

If you have ideas on how to improve it, or want to organise something, or just provide feedback on last year’s show; then come along and have your say.

Trophies

We also have a box of trophies from previous shows, many for livestock classed which are no longer part of the show, and we need to decide what to do with them. So, for example, if you have an idea on what to do with a “Best Gimmer Hog Rose-bowl” trophy (assign it to a new class, sell it, reclaim it as your family’s heirloom, or anything else) please do come and help us decide.

See you next Monday!

Spring 2025 Events at KVH

You will find all our planned events on the web site (events page), but we thought it would be good to provide a poster you can print and pin to your fridge!

You can download it here or there is a snap-shot below…. (and we will put some printed copies on the notice boards, so you can help yourself).

As you can see we are repeating some of our more successful events (Quiz and Bingo nights) and also our regular coffee mornings (upgraded to a BIG Brunch in April) and craft club continues as normal. Please do come along and support your Village Hall.
