Organisation of Kaber Village Hall

Following the election of the Village Hall Committee and Trustees at the Village Hall Charity EGM, in October 2023, and their first meetings (see minutes here), they wanted to clarify the respective roles of the Trustees and the Working Group. This page attempts to make this clear….

The Role of  the Trustees

The Trustees (of the Village Hall Charity) are the people legally responsible for the Hall and the Village Hall Charity. This includes the following things:

  1. The Lease of the Hall from Kaber School Charity (aka Education Trust)
  2. The administration of the Kaber Village Hall Charity (KVHC)
  3. The accounting and financial reporting of the Kaber Village Hall Charity
  4. The Insurance, Health & Safety and other legal administrative activities relating to the operation of the Kaber VIllage Hall.

The Working Group consists of the Trustees and other people appointed by the Trustees. This group (including its Chair, Secretary and Treasurer) have organised a new lease on the Hall with the Kaber School Charity (the previous having expired in Spring 2022). They are also updating the KVHC records at the Charity Commission,  and registering the new Trustees.

The Kaber Village Hall  Working Group are a group of people from the Parish who will arrange. and run events at the Hall, and look after the day to day maintenance of the building.

This Working Group is comprised of the current Trustees, and additional Individuals
appointed by the Trustees. These Individuals will be appointed for a period determined by
the Trustees, but such appointments would terminate at the next AGM. Such individuals
would then be eligible for reappointment by the Trustees if required. All members of the
Working Group would have full voting rights on matters discussed by the Working Group.

Following on from the meeting in May 2023, where lots of great ideas were generated (some of which have already turned into Events (like the Music Night)). Keep an eye on the Events page for details of all events at the Hall.

Also all members of the community help by organising events, and helping as Key Holders, with catering, cleaning etc. …and their help is very much appreciated in making “KVH” a welcoming Community Hub.
