About Kaber Village Hall

Banner-TransparentBG-TealHistory of the building & School Trust

The Hall in Kaber was the Village School, paid for and erected (sometime prior to 1689)village Hall by a group of local residents & farmers who decided to raise funds to provide a school for local children. This group became a charity in 1896. They leased the building to Kaber School Board to run the school. Later the School was let to and run by the County Council, until the closing of the school, when it was returned to provide a Village Hall.

Kaber School Charity (aka “Kaber Educational Trust”) and its predecessors continued to operate throughout this entire period of more then 325 years, and distributes grants to local children, from income generated by renting its land. Its sole objective is to provide grants to local school children but it’s charity documentation also says it may organise classes & lectures.

The Village Hall today

Today the Village Hall is run by the Kaber Village Hall Charity’s Trustees and a Working Group who organise and run events at the Hall and undertake it’s maintenance.

It provides a Community Hub, and can be used by residents to host clubs and social events or hired by third-party organisations for parties or meetings.
