Beer and Skiffle ?

No, we didn’t invest in a skittles ally – but it’s not a bad idea, huh??? But we did arrange two other things…

A Music License

speaker

KVH Bluetooth speaker

As you may not know, it’s illegal to play recorded or broadcast music (or other things) without a license in a public place – so we purchased a Music License for the Hall (you can see it on the notice board). This means you can now play your favourite bands (even if it’s not Lonnie Donegan), podcasts, radio station in the hall to add to the “atmosphere”! (and the artists get some money from the PRS for Music organisation too.)

…and one of the Committee donated a pretty blue Bluetooth speaker, so you can link it to your phone/tablet/jukebox and share your sounds with everyone!! (just check they want it though, please!)

Legal Drinking

As the committee realized a little while ago, the Lease on the hall forbade alcohol from being brought into the hall – let alone allowing it to be drunk on site.

This would have stopped people bringing their own drinks for events, or from drinks being included in a raffle prize (or quiz prize hamper), or even being displayed as part of the village show.

So we asked the Trustees of the School Trust if this could be relaxed a little – and they agreed, and a modification has been added to the Village Hall Charity lease.

So, it’s OK to bring and consume beer, wine, cider or spirits at the hall – but not to offer such things for sale. (…and some moderation will be expected too!)

Many thanks to the School Trustees for their help and understanding.
